Hammer Seal Tank Unions (6" - 14", 150 PSI) for Fast Mud System Connections

Optimizing Drilling Mud Tank Suction Lines & High-Volume Low-Pressure Piping

In modern drilling rig mud systems, fast makeup and breakdown of fluid lines are essential for reducing non-productive time (NPT). Traditional flanged connections often require meticulous bolt alignment and standard rigid piping setup, which creates bottlenecks during rig moves and field retrofits. To solve this, drilling contractors and mud tank manufacturers rely heavily on hammer seal tank union assemblies to maintain rapid, secure connections across mud suction, equalizing, and shaker return lines.

Why Hammer Seal Tank Unions Excel in Fluid Processing

Engineered specifically for low-pressure (150 PSI WP / 225 PSI Test) service, these large-bore connections allow up to 5 degrees of angular pipe misalignment without compromising line seal integrity. This flexibility is vital when connecting rigid steel tanks set up on uneven terrain.

  • Rapid Lock & Unlock: Heavy-duty forged lug nuts can be made up or broken down quickly using standard sledgehammers or pneumatic tools.
  • Versatile Sealing Options: Available with standard molded NBR lip seals, optional Nitrile O-rings, or air-inflatable rubber seals for low-head fluid transfers.
  • Weldable Socket Sub: Socket weld design simplifies installation onto mud tank bulkheads and large-diameter suction piping.

Seamless Replacement & Field Compatibility

A major challenge for international oilfield procurement officers is finding reliable replacement parts that match existing equipment. Shanghai PME Industrial manufactures mud tank hammer seal unions that are fully dimensionally interchangeable with industry-standard brands like Kemper, Windlass, and American Block.

Nominal Size Working Pressure Primary Application Area
6" & 8" 150 PSI (1.03 MPa) Mud processing equalizing lines & shaker discharge
10" 150 PSI (1.03 MPa) Main mud suction manifolds (Industry Standard Size)
12" & 14" 150 PSI (1.03 MPa) High-volume low-head gravity feed & tank dump lines

Reliable Global Supply & Quality Assurance

Whether outfitting new mud tank builds in Middle East oilfields (such as Kuwait onshore platforms) or replacing worn seals during routine maintenance, sourcing factory-direct piping components ensures strict quality control and cost savings. All units undergo stringent dimensional and pressure tests before export.
